Pool Sessions
Every Monday evening (except Public Holidays) Bath Canoe Club has use of the swimming pool at
Kingswood School from 8.30 - 10.00 pm.
The sessions are run by our qualified volunteer coaches.
Use of the pool is free to members of Bath Canoe Club, or £10.00 per session to adult non-members, £5 to under-18 non-members.
The pool provides a safe environment irrespective of whether you are an experienced paddler wishing to improve your rolling technique or a novice wishing to learn the basics. This is especially useful for newcomers to paddling during BCU 1 and 2 Star training. It is a requirement of all newcomers registered on the Bath Canoe Club Introduction to Paddlesport course to attend at least one pool session during the initial stages of their training to learn capsize and rescue drills in a safe, clean, environment rather than the murky depths of the River Avon!
On your first visit to a pool session please make yourself known to one of the Coaches to discuss your immediate needs and what you need from us to improve your kayaking skills - if you don't ask, you don't get!
Please note that only boats provided by Bath Canoe Club are to be used at the pool. In exceptional circumstances members boats will be allowed but only on the condition that they are scrupulously clean (inside and out) and with the agreement of the Pool Organiser. In all cases permission must be granted in advance of the pool session (don’t just turn up expecting to put your boat on the water - you will be disappointed) and each boat will be closely inspected before being allowed on the water. Invariably boats will need to be showered before access to the pool is granted. Please do not be offended if permission is refused.
