 Leader: Phil
 Trip level:
Discover Award / Beginner

This trip is geared to offer those who have just completed their Discover Award course with the club.  Other paddlers are welcome to join in.  The nature of the day will be running through the basics of launching and landing, quick revision of basic paddling strokes, paddle out to Old Harry Rocks and perhaps beyond, then on return to the beach area we will practice deep water rescues.  On completion of this introductory session participants should be able to register and participate in Improver level sea trips.

It is hoped that participants can share transport to the coast and carry club boats on roof racks.  It is possible that the club trailer will need to be used if there are too few roof rack places.  The coordination of the travel arrangements will be done during the week preceeding the trip.

We should be on the water by about 10:30 which will mean getting there about 09:30.  We meet at Knoll Beach National Trust car park, just south of the cafĂ© by the beach huts: BH19 3AQ, w3w ///slurred.sensual.afflicted,  OS Grid Ref: SZ 033 835.

I'll send out instructions to registrands a few days before the trip.

If places fill up, please do continue to register on waiting list because I do have ways of accepting more participants.

You must satisfy yourself that this trip is suitable for you, that you are sufficiently experienced, able and willing to paddle at the advertised level. For detailed guidance, see trip categoristion. If in doubt, seek guidance from the advertised leader before registering.

You must register if you intend to come. Places are restricted in an effort to maintain an acceptable leader/participant ratio. When the list is full names can still be registered as reserves and the leader will notify you if you may join the trip.

If you change your mind, that's okay! But please contact the leader and the trips officer as soon as you know so that someone else can register in your place.

If you want to know more about how trips are conducted see trip routine.

You must bring suitable equipment or make arrangements for someone to bring it for you (eg. kayak). See what to bring. You are advised to book a club boat, if you don't have your own.  Choose the boat most suited to you and then write the booking on the white board in the club basement store.
