All,
This white water trip should be the Teign from Chagford down to Fingle bridge.
It can be pretty fast from the start and there may be a need to do an emergency break out to avoid a river wide deadly tree. It's also about 6 miles so we'll need to keep the pace up just in case we have any swims later in the trip.
On previous trips down the Teign we have had pins, big swims and close encounters with trees but we've always been smiling when we arrive at Fingle bridge and its pub.
As always it will depend on river levels.
We also need a good number of experienced paddlers, chain saws and all the lucky rabbit's feet etc you can bring.
Meet at the club to leave by 08.00 - as we have less daylight and I like to have a 50% safety margin on the water.
It's about a 2:15 drive. With the longer shuttle run on a very narrow tractor filled road we probably won't be home much before 19:00.
What to bring - the usual stuff but not forgetting-
Warm paddling kit even though it's in Devon it could be cold
A hot drink is now a must have - an unbreakable flask (attached) in the back of your boat.
Food - high energy food is best (flapjacks/Mars bars/banana etc. are good)
Transport
Normally we share the cost of the fuel (220+ miles so could be around £30-£50).
