Overview

Get the ferry over and base ourselves at one campsite, doing day trips or maybe trips to stay for a night on other islands as we please. Can stay however many nights you wish, but nominally a week.

You need to be 3* level (contact organiser if you think you are but don't have the piece of paper).

What will we do

Whatever we like depending on the weather. This is a peer trip. There is a pub and stuff to do if the weather is bad, but the idea is to paddle out to and around the various islands. These should offer sheltered waters or more lively waters depending where you choose to go. Depending on who comes etc we may split into smaller groups. Each day will be different.

Travel
The ferry leaves Penzance at 0845 so you need to be there earlier. Suggest travel down the day/evening before and stay over. Cars are not allowed on the ferry so need to book parking in Penzance for the week. Ferry leaves the Isles morning and afternoon, so you could complete the journey home in 1 day. No ferries on Sundays. You need to book yourself and your kayak on the ferry. Note the luggage weight limit of 25Kg. You may wish to purchase extra luggage allowance.

The website says 'full' for some days but places often still available on those days if you book by phone.

If you are 3* and interested I suggest you BOOK the FERRY ASAP as the website suggests place are filling up.

Camping
We will base ourselves on the main island that the ferry goes to: St. Marys, the Garrison Campsite. Bring all your own kit.

Cost
'Free', but we estimate the cost will be around £300-£350 pp inc travel from Bath, 1 overnight B&B near Penzance, carparking (based on 2 sharing fuel/parking etc), ferry, & camping. Food and drink extra.

Booking
You need to book for yourself direct. However please email the organiser and cc 'trips' so we know who to expect and can help people organise lifts. You can choose your days of travel but so far people are coming on the Friday/Saturday 16/17 May and returning Saturday 24 May.

Registration: This trip will be organised by email.

Please email the trip organiser if you are interested.

Age: If under 18 you must be accompanied by a responsible adult for the whole trip including on the water . You must let the organiser know if you are under 18 and get the organiser's permission to come on this trip.

Responsibility: You will be expected to take responsibility for your own kit and general safety.

Keys: You will need to make your own arrangements with a key-holder to get into the club if you don't have keys.

Safe-code: For boats and other kit you will need the keys in the safe. For the safe-code mailto:code@bathcanoeclub.co.uk The code changes frequently.

Transport: For environmental and economic reasons we should car share as much as possible. However with sea kayaks only 2 per car is recommended. Actual cost between you and driver/passenger.
