Trip Types

This is suitable for everyone, including families

Age: If under 18 you must be accompanied by a responsible adult for the whole trip including on the water, unless the trip organiser has specifically agreed otherwise.

Responsibility: You will be expected to take responsibility for your own kit and general safety.

The Blurb:

Just to let you know that there is a surf weekend happening from the 2nd-4th august down in Woolecombe. This is a peer paddling trip organized through the Cheeky paddler Facebook group (i recommend registering on the fan page and event diary).

The general idea is to head down Friday, then fill up the weekend with lots of paddling, drinking and eating. I'm sure we will do some barbecues as well. Day trippers are welcome to join us, but most the sociallising will be done over the evening back at the campsite. We are looking to head to the http://www.littleroadway.co.uk/ which is a great place, and is reasonably cheap to camp.

This is suitable for everyone, including families Both paddling and non-paddling, as well as the party animals (Woolecombe is great for a night out drinking, even if the water is unforgiving with a hangover). Complete beginners at surf kayaking are definitely welcome, but it will not be a formal coaching trip, although the more experience paddlers will help where they can.
Obviously we are not psychic, so we don't know what the weather is doing, but either way it will be a fun weekend. If its flat, we can do polo matches and games, and build sand castles etc, and if it is 'Gnarly' the less experienced can play in the small breakers near shore, and the psycho's can get thrashed further out.

If you have any questions, feel free to message me.

Lift sharing can be arranged, and if we get high enough numbers, we may request the use of the club trailer. And I'm sure we can arrange some tent sharing (not in the rude way) if anyone has some big family sized tents.

Practicalities:

Kit: If you need a club boat email the quartermaster mailto:quartermaster@bathcanoeclub.co.uk

Don't forget change of warm clothes, windproof top, unbreakable flask,

Boat, paddle, BA, decent spray deck, helmet.

You will need a good spraydeck in the surf. The ones downstairs at the club are not suitable. The ones upstairs are but are limited in number. Consider buying your own (around £40, try Lomo/ewetsuits).

Keys: You will need to make your own arrangements with a key-holder to get into the club if you don't have keys.

Safe-code: For boats and other kit you will need the keys in the safe. For the safe-code mailto:code@bathcanoeclub.co.uk The code changes frequently.

Transport: For environmental and economic reasons we should car share as much as possible. However with sea kayaks only 2 per car is recommended, with WW kayaks up to 4. Actual cost between you and driver/passenger.
