May 31 to June 2– Pembrokeshire camping weekend

Hi all,

Following on from a couple of great camping trips out in Pembrokshire last year we're looking at setting up some more this year.

The first is planned for the weekend 31st May - 2nd of June. This trip is aimed at sea paddlers around 3* level (fear not, already looking at setting something up for less experienced paddlers) who want to try living out of a boat for a few days and picking up some new skills along the way. I you're unsure if about what level you're at just drop me a line.

As ever with Pembrokeshire the trip will depend on what the weather is doing that weekend, but there are plenty of options. June is normally reasonably settled so we should have decent choice of locations.

The basic plan is:
· Leave Bath Friday late afternoon
· Camp in Pembrokeshire on Friday night may have the option to wild camp but if not there are plenty of campsites
· Hit the water on Saturday morning for a days paddling
· Wild camp on Saturday night
· Paddle the rest of the trip on Sunday
· Aim to leave mid afternoon on Sunday to be back in Bath early evening

Depending on the numbers the cost is likely to be around £50 - £60 plus petrol and food. We'll be getting a guide from Sea Kayak Guides who have provided us with the best guides in the area, well worth the money . The club can provide all the paddling gear (boat, deck, helmet, PFD) but you'll need to book this with the quartermasters directly. You will also need to bring your own camping gear and food plus dry bags to store it in. Sea kayaks have loads of space so the camping gear doesnt need to be ultra light weight, you just need to be able to get it through the hatch. While the hatches are sealed they can leak a bit so dry bags really are essential.

Once we got an idea of numbers we can work out a more detailed plan and sort out transport etc.

Thanks
Ben
