Financial support for BCC club members

Introduction

The club will provide financial support to club members to participate in activities / qualifications where it is of benefit to the continuing development of the club.

 

The committee has allocated a sum of £700 for the period from the 1st September 2016 until the end of August 2017 for this purpose.

 

Any support given by BCC is in addition to any financial support that may be available from other sources.

 

Activities not listed may be eligible for support. Please contact the Chairperson but please be aware that approval of the committee will normally be required so there may be a delay of several weeks before a response can be given.

 

Club members intending to apply for a bursary should contact the Chairperson at least 4 weeks in advance of undertaking the activity / qualification so that she / he may consult the committee if necessary.

 

The level of support indicated in the table are for courses / qualifications undertaken after the 1st. September 2015.

To receive support

To receive support you will need to:

  • Be a current member of BCC.
  • Have received approval from BCC Chairperson for financial support.
  • Present a receipt to the Treasurer for the full cost of the course and proof of successful completion of course / qualification.
  • Support for coaching qualifications will be dependent upon the recipient agreeing to coach at least one course (BCC ITPS, 2* or 3* as appropriate) at BCC within twelve months of gaining the qualification. The coaching bursary will be paid when the coaching commitment has been completed. If the coaching commitment is not completed within twelve months of gaining the coaching qualification then the bursary will be forfeited.
  • Support for leadership qualifications (BCU 4*, 5*) will be dependent upon the recipient agreeing to lead a minimum of four BCC trips in the twelve months following the award of a leadership qualification. The bursary will be paid when the leadership commitment has been fulfilled. If the leadership commitment is not completed within twelve months of attaining the leadership qualification then the bursary will be forfeited.

 

 

Coaches active in the club

In addition to the above all coaches who actively participate in coaching on BCC courses during a given calendar year will be eligible for free club membership in the following year when their membership falls due for renewal. A record of participation will be kept by the Training Officer and submitted to the Committee at the December meeting each year. Active participation is considered to be at least 80% attendance at an appropriate course (ITPS, BCU 2*, BCU 3*, FSRT etc.).

 

In order to qualify for the above concession coaches cannot charge participants or the club for their services while undertaking the qualifying activities.

 

 

Club trip leaders

Trip leaders who hold an appropriate BCU 4* qualification who lead 4 or more day trips during their membership year will be eligible for free club membership in the following year when their membership falls due for renewal. A record of trips lead will be kept by the Trips Officer.

 

In order to qualify for the above concession trip leaders cannot charge participants or the club for their services while undertaking the qualifying trips.
